Villas Verdes

This is a great place for families! The staff was very friendly. We had our own villa and our daughter and her family had their own villa. We hung out at my daughter's place because it was bigger and by two swimming pools. Our room needed a better mattress and better curtains to block out the light. The kitchens are very well stocked and there is a grocery store across the street for easy access to food. The beach is a 5 minute walk down a dirt road.

We stayed in the house for one week. Very spacious accommodations- one room had two double beds, main had king and the little apartment attached (own entry) had one twin. The private pool is the gem here if you have kids (they do have a main pool for the other villas, which was never very crowded). But we probably jumped in the pool each time we returned home and hung in it all the time. Great temp. The “hot tub” is cold (which is fine, it’s 90degrees can’t imagine using a hot tub. They supply towels (beach and main) and have a large bin of beach and pool toys (including boogie boards). We had full kitchen to nice for fridge and microwave to reheat stuff for lunch to save some $. We had monkeys in our back tree- amazing! A few large tree frogs in pool at night. Grocery store right across from hotel (better then one down the street, though if you need cash use the atm in Pali, the others in town did not work. You are right in town so bring a portable noisemaker as you get road noise. The minuses? Apparently they serve breakfast but they have NO info when you check in, so had no idea! The showed are awful. Very hard to turn on and one of ours even broke… so that was frustrating- not once did we get hot water. Air in both bedrooms- one downstairs would be helpful- but leave both bedrooms on and door open and it cools down. You can walk to many restaurants and the road to the beach is right in front of hotel. Being a lot bug spray and ton of sun tan lotion.!

What a great place to stay. The rooms are like a small apartment, fully equipped kitchen (including blender, coffee maker and toaster, and a full sized refrigerator-freezer), TV, and AC (important here, it’s hot!). Very comfortable beds! Relaxing shady private patio with a countertop and table for enjoying breakfast outside with the birds and sounds of Howler monkeys, two refreshing swimming pools with plenty of shady lounge areas. The staff was friendly and did an exceptional job with cleaning the rooms and tending to the grounds. Also, this place is easy walking distance to everything. Less than 10 minutes to all restaurants shops and the beach. Security gate is locked after dark so security is good although Samara feels safe as it is. It’s a great value also. Definitely recommend!

Villas Verdes boutique hotel is a hidden gem right in the heart of Samara, Costa Rica, our introduction to Nicoya Blue Zone living. My husband and I have been returning to Villas Verdes for many years, bringing family and friends along for the best vacation experience ever. Whether you want to relax in quiet, horseback ride, take adventure excursions, or gather with friends, this is the perfect setting. Need to keep up on your work? Not a problem, cell connections are good and wifi is free. A convenient location in town, from Villas Verdes you can take a quick walk to the beach (gorgeous Playa Samara) for sunrise to the East and sunset to the West, to food markets, restaurants, tour connections, bars, and shops. Villas Verdes residences and gardens are well maintained with full size swimming pools and outdoor spa tubs. Each private villa has its own roofed outdoor dining area and are clean and beautifully furnished with well equipped kitchens, comfortable air conditioned bedrooms, full baths with showers, and decorated with attention to detail and function. The multi-lingual concierge staff is helpful and attentive. Koriynne, our wonderful proprietress, brings her loving and personal touch to this tropical oasis. Our vacations are always over too quickly.

Our stay at Villas Verdes was perfect for our family of four! We had a house with a bedroom with bathroom downstairs for the kids, a huge bedroom with bath upstairs for the adults, and there was a bathroom off the living room. We had a full kitchen which was great as there is a grocery store across the street. There was another BR/BA accessible from outside which we didn't use but would be perfect for two more adults or older children. We couldn't believe the lovely private pool and jacuzzi and the property is next to a jungle-like area so you can see monkeys, iguanas, butterflies, etc while you swim. Amazing!!! The owners were so lovely and helpful, booking us rides everything, doing laundry, organizing COVID tests, and being so very nice. The property is perfectly located about 250 yards from the stunning beach and within walking distance of many restaurants and shops, including a yummy cafe next door. We were so happy with our stay.

We have spent two whole months at Villas Verdes so we really know the property. From the sheer white curtains blowing in the breeze in the covered outdoor spaces of the units to the mature trees and grounds...meticulously maintained and beautifully lit at night...it's heaven! The pool is just big enough to do laps, it's surrounded by palm trees so the water stays refreshingly cool, and there are quality lounge chairs in both the shade and the sun. They don't scrimp on the comfort of the towels, bedding, glassware, etc. Ginormous fans on the outdoor porches and thru-out the units make hanging out indoors or swinging in your hammock outdoors a pleasure. The bedrooms have the A/C units and they work well. You can tell the owners are exceptional, with many little touches that make such a difference, and in general you can tell a place by it's staff. They are exceptional, from the front desk people to the cleaning chicas to the handymen and pool and groundskeepers - always there to respond and help quickly. Next door to an excellent coffee shop on one side and one of the best restaurants in town on the other side. 2 blocks to the beach and the center of town. We'll be back! :}~
